Today's Run, May 31

What a great way to start our training together! It's hard to believe, but on December 6 we'll be running a marathon together. For those of us who haven't run in a while, this was a great chance to stretch our legs and begin to get back into marathon shape.

Here are the vital stats:
  • Total time: 42:48
  • Distance: 4.11 miles
  • Average pace: 10:25 minute/mile
  • Calories burned: 570
As you can see, we were about 40 seconds off of our race pace (9:44 min/mile), but that's to be expected for our first run, where we're just knocking the rust off.

It was great to see so many new and old people running with us today. I look forward to getting to know those of you who are new to the group.

In addition to the info about our training runs, I'll also be posting links to information about nutrition, running, and sports medicine to help keep us all in good shape for this 28-week program.

See you all next Sunday a little before 7 AM, when we'll run about 40 minutes together.

Welcome to the running group

Hi everyone! I'm going to be using this blog to spread good cheer and encouragement en route to our December date with the finish line. Each week I'll include a summary of our Sunday run and some words about how we're doing.

Las Vegas in Motion meets every Sunday morning at the Village Runner in Henderson-- 217 N. Stephanie, to be precise. Here's a map, if you've never been there:

If you've just stumbled upon this blog and are looking to get in shape or prepare for the Rock and Roll Las Vegas Marathon, come and join us on Sundays. We usually meet at 6, but early and late in the season have been known to start at 7.

We are one of many pace groups training with Las Vegas in Motion. There are groups for the full and half-marathon at many paces, so whether you're planning to finish the race in 3:30 or a 5-hour run/walk, there should be a place where you can train comfortably.
